My name is Howard, and I am the owner of the Tectonic Fitness Gym in Santa Clarita, CA. I have been a fitness trainer for over 12 years, and I have trained hundreds of clients and taught over 2,000 cardio classes in my career. I've worked with clients from 5 to 77 years of age and specialize in fitness rehabilitation, injury recovery, and youth and adult sports training. What I think is important for you to know is I'm a dedicated family man to my wife and kids. Health and fitness are one of our core family values. My wife and I have been married for 22 years, and she is an important part of my business. She is a nurse who sees what a lifestyle of poor health choices can do to the mind and body, and she is my go-to when I have a client who has health limitations that I need to consider when developing a fitness plan. My daughter is studying dance in college and wants to open her dance studio when she graduates. My son was a nationally competitive gymnast for ten years and now plays high school football; he hopes to continue to play in college. My family is the reason why I wake up each day and give thanks for my life.
Why do I want you to know this? Because I understand life's challenges, sticking to a fitness program can be difficult. I know that fitness can take a back seat because family, work, and life in general, can get in the way of your fitness goals. I have the same challenges as everyone, finding time to workout and keeping up with my responsibilities. Funny how we all share some of the same problems!
I train my clients with the understanding that fitness and health need to be blended gently into our everyday lives. I'm not a trainer who preaches that you must have total dedication and commitment to your fitness training, or you will fail. I'm a trainer who beings my life experience and understanding to help you find a way to incorporate fitness into your life. My client's emotional well-being is the bases of how I train. My experience has taught me that a gentle and understanding approach to what's going on in my client's life can help me create the best training plan with the best chances of success, not to mention clients that stay with me on average for over six years. If you're looking for a trainer with understanding, compassion, and who knows how to create a fitness plan for your success, then look no feather.
To your good health and happiness,
Howard Tons
Gyms come in all shapes and sizes. Most of us have been in a gym at some point, and we usually envision a "Big Box Gym" with thousands of members, newly certified trainers, row after row of treadmills and machines, and crowded with people trying to figure out what to do next. Not exactly the place you'll feel comfortable starting a training program.
The next type of gym is known as a "Boutique Gym," these gyms are privately owned and much small than their big brother, The Big Box Gym, and usually have less than a thousand members. Boutique Gym offer a more personal experience, seasoned trainers, are less crowded, give a sense of community, and are very appealing for the most part. I started my career in a boutique gym in Santa Clarita and enjoyed it.
Now we come to the third type of gym people might not know of when they look for a fitness facility to join. I call it the "Micro Gym," these gyms are home-based gyms that trainers usually start when they leave a commercial gym and strike out on their own. Typically, Micro Gyms are garages or spare rooms converted into gyms to train their clients. Depending on the trainer and their budget or training style, there may have lots of equipment or very little. I know you are thinking, how can I get a good workout training in someone's garage? The answer is easy. You can get a good workout anywhere!
When looking for a training program, keep in mind you are looking for a qualified and knowledgeable trainer with at least five years of experience, not a place to just exercise. Micro Gyms offer something the others can't, privacy. There is no dealing with crowds, interruptions in your workout, not having your trainer's undivided attention, finding parking, and not listening to someone else's music. You get to choose the music; what could be better! So why not come find out what a Micro Gym can offer you?
